Akashiya, located near the Tenmonkan entertainment district, is renowned nationwide as the definitive destination for Kagoshima's satsuma-age (fried fish cake). With flavors including tofu, burdock root, and shrimp, these slightly sweet, fluffy fried cakes have long been cherished as a Kagoshima souvenir. The main shop in Tenmonkan is a tourist queue staple, offering freshly fried satsuma-age for eating on the spot. The local custom of snacking while strolling through Tenmonkan is catching on with international visitors too. Located at 3-14 Kanasho-cho, Kagoshima City.
