Oita/Beppu Queue: Zabier Honpo – Oita's Historic Confection
Photo — Sweets Index Bureau

Zabier Honpo creates its eponymous 'Zabier' confection in honor of St. Francis Xavier's historic landing in what is now Oita City. The crispy butter-flavored pastry filled with white anko is a must-buy souvenir when visiting Oita and Beppu, enjoyed nationwide. Two varieties are available: a Western-style version with rum-soaked raisins and a traditional Japanese-style version — both celebrating Oita's unique cross-cultural history. Located at 4-6-10 Soke-cho, Oita City.
